MBC Pumpkin Pitch (#1)

Posted by Dave Fratello on Monday, October 19th, 2009 at 3:30am.

Here's an opportunity to help MB schools and Manhattan Beach Confidential at the same time.

It has to do with pumpkins, moving fast downhill.

As you're aware now, the World Famous Pumpkin Race returns to downtown MB next weekend.

MBC has been offered the opportunity to be listed at the races as a sponsor if YOU, the readers, contribute a total of $1,000 through the MBC pumpkin race team.

The MB Education Foundation is the official beneficiary of the MBC team; your donations will go directly to the schools' tax-exempt educational support organization.

MBC readers are an active community of professionals who care about the city we all love. We come here to discuss real estate, but we share much more.

We all know the value of our schools as a part of what makes MB great – and community support for MBEF is a big part of that. So let's show what the readership here can do – please make a donation today!

To help us reach our fundraising goal, you have 2 options:
1) Make a donation as a "sponsor" of the MB Confidential for the Kids team to bring us near or over $1,000. (Click here to go to the "sponsor" page.)

2) "Join" the MB Confidential for the Kids team to process your online registration for this year's new unlimited racing ($15) and/or to purchase a pumpkin car kit. (Click here for the team page, and click "join this team" in the left column.)
Your donations and orders will be processed entirely through the Pumpkin Race website, which will generate a receipt for you for tax purposes. (In other words, MBC has no involvement or responsibility for the Pumpkin Race system.)

MBC has never before asked readers for tips, donations or pay. Your local NPR affiliate has probably run 7 membership drives in the span of time MBC has been publishing pitch-free.

We've finally broken from tradition in support of keeping the pumpkin race downtown, helping the schools at this difficult time and, perhaps, getting a little extra notice for MBC.

Please sponsor MB Confidential for the Kids today!
