Weekend Opens (4/24-4/25)
Posted on Saturday, April 24th, 2010 at 4:14am.We came close to making just one recommendation west of Sepulveda this weekend, 644 17th, but decided that one other debut this weekend in the Hills needed a boost as well.
Well, there's one other outside MB (dare we say?), the inspired modern lifeguard tower in Hermosa Beach at 3002 Hermosa Ave., now at $4.299m, which is worth a look for its own sake (open Sun 1-4pm).
Click here for the complete list of opens published in the Beach Reporter, or at any time use the link from the "Property Search Tools" pull-down menu in the top navigation bar.
As always, click any highlighted property address for more pics & details via Redfin.
Please report back here at MBC on any open houses you visit – what you like, what you don't like, etcetera.
Tree Section
You've got to love the cul-de-sac block of 17th between Ardmore and the Martyrs fields – only neighbors, guests and, perhaps, people who are lost ever traverse the street.
This weekend, there will be just a bit more traffic for the public opens at 644 17th (5br/5ba, 5400 sq. ft. – yes, 5400). That'd be the smart traffic.
The home's an ornate, custom, tranquil Spanish with great décor as a bonus.
The kitchen isn't just high-end, it's a showpiece. The back yard/entertaining space, with fountain, is crisp and near-perfect.
Did we mention ocean views from the top floor?
If you're looking to spend $3.450m or so in the Trees, here's the way to do it right.
644 17th is open Sat. 2-5pm, and Sun. 11am-3pm (church crowd, take note).
Hill Section

607 Anderson would be big in the Tree Section, but is midsize for the Hills at 5br/5ba, 3575 sq. ft.
The late-90s build has been updated in all the important areas (kitchen and baths), and has some nice custom flourishes.
Your blog author's a sucker for an office/study with a beamed ceiling and built-ins, and the basement works as a home gym.
Sellers paid $1.939m in May 2004, and tried at $2.340m (+$401k/+21%) for a month last year. This year, they're starting at $2.2m even.
607 Anderson is open Sat. & Sun. 1-3pm.
