All Good Things Must End, Including "The A"

This week, it's not just the end of school.

It's also looking like the end for an A-frame house at 15th/Highland, affectionately known as "The A."

1504 Highland Avenue Manhattan Beach CAThis week, a construction fence went up around 1504 Highland, a 1960s house (3br/3ba, 1675 sqft.) that was a landmark, and the site of ... maybe just a few parties over time.

(We've been seeing some shares on social media. Here's the MB Historical Society's post on FB, with more photos & info.)

We had our own appreciation for the home when it hit the market in Spring 2022. (See "Selling History at the A-Frame.") It eventually sold for $2.625M, or $26K over asking.

1504 Highland Avenue Manhattan Beach CAAlas, the site is too good for a 2-story (with loft), when unblocked views down 15th St. are available from a potential third story.

Not to worry, though, if you're purely a fan of A-frames. There's a twin.

1505 Crest, right behind 1504 Highland, is also an A-frame.

And, per the MB Historical Society, that one has received recognition as a historic home, with some Mills Act protections and benefits.

As to whatever's coming new at 1504, don't you feel like they're obliged to have a giant party deck?
