Sunday Opens (11/9/14)

By Dave Fratello | November 8th, 2014

Alright, so much for "Fall," that lasted about 2 days. Back to Indian Summer, just in time for a long weekend.

It's time to plan ahead a bit, though, for "Winter." This year's MB Yuletide 5K comes early, on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 5:30PM.

It's a signature local event: Flat, wet sand. The pier all lit up for the holidays. Runners festooned with bells and glowsticks. Luminaria along the path.

MB Confidential is a core sponsor precisely because this is such a terrific Manhattan Beach event. See you there!

As to real estate, with the long weekend and everyone's activities, we were able to tour the homes, but our reviews are limited by time and space to mainly the official listing descriptions.

To plan your open-house tours for this week, use MB Confidential's online list of Manhattan Beach open houses (it's mobile-friendly!).

Don't forget, when previewing homes here on MB Confidential, you can click "Open All Images" right above the main listing photo to get immediate display of all the listing photos at once.

3016 Alma (3br/3ba, 1850 sq. ft.) might be hard to get excited about from the outside, but a walkthrough will be far more encouraging. There's more house than expected, a 4th bedroom that didn't make the official listing data, high ceilings and lots of potential.

More from the official description:

"[W]alking distance to just about everything - the beach, Grandview Elementary, shops, restaurants, gyms and so much more. This home has a fantastic layout a lot of charm, and a long deck with peek-a-boo ocean views! There are 4 bedrooms, with 2 and 3/4 bathrooms all with a lot of natural light and closet space. The master bedroom has two small side by side his and hers walk-in closets, an en suite bathroom with shower and double sinks. One of the bedrooms is being used as an office, and has beautiful built-in desks and shelving space and off this room there is a brick patio that is about 320 sqft.. The upstairs living space is incredible with almost 2 story tall lofted ceilings, inviting with a fireplace and built-in cabinets for shelving. The top level also enjoys the Master Suite and an additional bedroom... A rare find in this area, is the two car garage and 3 extra spaces in front of the garage."

Take note of that last part: Parking in the North End. Vital.

3016 Alma starts at $1.900M and is open Sun. 1-4pm.
