If Memorial Day is the unofficial start to Summer, one thing Manhattan Beach locals may be wondering is: Are we in for a chilly, cloudy Summer like the one we saw 5 years ago?

We haven't really had many hot and sunny days here since roughly March, and this holiday weekend may not see temps break 70 degrees.

The Summer of 2010 saw more foggy, cool days than sunny ones, it seemed. A stubborn marine layer hung low over the South Bay on days that nature intended for rollicking around outside on the sand. You could still play at the beach – you just needed a sweatshirt.

Some called it the "Bummer Summer." Others were happy about the free air conditioning while inland areas baked.
