The El Porto district of North Manhattan Beach is sought after for two main reasons: Affordability and quality of surf. Not necessarily in that order.
The surf break in El Porto is often among the best in the Santa Monica Bay, enticing locals to make a daily pilgrimage, and drawing plenty of people to rent and buy homes in the area. The housing stock in El Porto, which runs from Rosecrans north to 45th Street, consists largely of homes built on half lots. Many are older duplexes that serve as rentals for decades at a time, but there are newer single-family homes in the mix as well.
