Begg Pool

Begg Pool is Manhattan Beach’s public swimming pool. The Begg Pool Complex was built in the 1940s and sits on land owned by the Manhattan Beach Unified School District adjacent to Polliwog Park. The facility is also owned by MBUSD but is jointly operated and maintained with the city of Manhattan Beach.

The pool offers a year-round comprehensive swimming program that includes youth and adult instruction, recreational swimming, lap swimming, water aerobics fitness, a youth swim team, and adult swim club. There are also special events offered at the pool throughout the summer months, and the pool is available for private party rentals.

The pool itself is 25 yards in length, and is six lanes wide and three to four feet in depth. However, given that these are substandard dimensions by today's standards, multiple groups have proposed various upgrade plans for the pool complex. Residents were invited to weigh in on potential plans and designs for a new pool in November 2023 (see article in MB News).
