We love to give you several photos for each listing to get a sense of each home, but you're going to want to dig into several of these properties in detail. Be sure to see the full details on 1720 Walnut, 808 John and 511 Marine, at a minimum.

Open house times for new listings are listed below, but you can also click SEARCHES then "Open Houses" at the top of our site, which displays all the Manhattan Beach open houses. There are also links right at the top to Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach opens.

1720 Walnut Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA

1720 Walnut Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA 1720 Walnut Avenue (5br/5ba, 3558 sqft.) is a highly inspired and inspiring modern Spanish with some somewhat muted, yet beautiful, design elements.

1720 Walnut Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CAThe home's style is announced at the covered entry porch, with intricate tilework and artful light fixture. Step inside, and you're instantly welcomed by a mix of saltillo tile, dark wood and playful, decorative tiles with splashes of color on the stairs.

The kitchen is distinguished by natural green cabinetry and dark stone counters, very different from what you'd find in a lot of today's newer homes, which feature whites, marble and quartz, and blues or greys.

1720 Walnut Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CAThoughtful, designer Spanish elements like that are found throughout the home, and even outside. It seems that each bathroom has some bold, snazzy detail as well, brimming with unexpected personality.

The lot has a bit of a rear downslope, which was incorporated into the design by creating a 3-level home which has a bit of a step down to the main living spaces, and a further walk down to the yard (with a partly covered outdoor seating area). The basement – with family room and large bedroom suite – is very bright for what it is.

At each turn, it's easy to appreciate this property for how distinctly on-point its style is, and for how rare it is to find something of this nature in Manhattan Beach. It has all the pop of a custom-built labor of love.

1720 Walnut Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CAThe 2020 build was purchased just as the first COVID lockdowns were ending, sufficiently to allow people to go out and look at real estate. The buyers were fortunate. They got something terrific that is rarely, if ever, seen on the spec market. They paid $3.820M at the time. The asking now is 33% above that, and the $1,433/PSF price would appear to exceed all prior Tree Section sales with a comparable lot size.

501 23rd Street, Manhattan Beach, CA

501 23rd Street, Manhattan Beach, CA 501 23rd Street (6br/5ba, 5100 sqft.) is an almost shockingly spacious, 3-level home that maintains a fairly low profile from the street, and never gets too full of itself inside, either.

A distinguishing feature is the indoor/outdoor flow made possible by disappearing doors that meet at a corner, but then create an uninterrupted flow when tucked away.

Oh, did we mention the basement?

511 Marine Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA

511 Marine Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA 511 Marine Avenue (4br/3ba, 2451 sqft.) doesn't look like much from the outside, perhaps, but that just means it is an incredible secret, and surprise, once you get inside.

511 Marine Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CAThe original 1980s house has been radically and elegantly reimagined and redone, opening up living spaces while creating two inviting patios and an incredible rooftop space, accessible off the primary suite.

511 Marine Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CAA 40' wide lot, 33% larger than normal, helps a lot in creating spacious rooms even with a central hallway design.

The warm-modern styling seems somehow timeless, all accentuated by pitch-perfect furniture and decor.

511 Marine Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CAThere are two bedrooms with high, angled ceilings, plus a small office in the rear of the home. The primary suite is all upstairs in back, opening out to a rooftop that could have just sat there, flat, unmotivating, but here they've added artificial turf, lighting and seating areas to create a third, private outdoor space that's a true delight.

Also on the main floor is a home office with views to the tree section and a three quarter bath nearby. On the top level is the private and welcoming primary suite. Hill Section

808 John St, Manhattan Beach, CA

808 John St, Manhattan Beach, CA 808 John Street (5br/6ba, 6604 sqft.) is a rare proposition first and foremost because it offers a huge house and double lot, over 20,000 sqft. of land at the peak of the Hill Section.

808 John St, Manhattan Beach, CAThe home itself is a late-90s Mediterranean, and while clean and luxurious in its own right, it's not notably current in style, appearing to retain all of the original finish elements.

808 John St, Manhattan Beach, CAAs is often the case with view homes like this, most of the bedrooms are on the first level, along with a set of welcoming living spaces, while the principal living areas – kitchen, formal dining, living room – are upstairs. The primary suite is also upstairs, with city views that would simply be incredible on a clear day, looking over Manhattan Beach toward SoFi Stadium, downtown L.A. and the mountains beyond.

808 John St, Manhattan Beach, CAThe lower floor features a formal living room that flows out to a private outdoor courtyard on the side, and to a balcony area in back that drinks in views of the pool, yard and neighborhood beyond.

808 John St, Manhattan Beach, CAUpstairs, one living room features ocean peeks to the south, while the bulk of the home is toward the rear, eastern side of the lot.

It's always nice to say that a large home like this is "great for entertaining," but here, one could almost host a decathlon. There's a full-length lap pool with a hot tub integrated in, huge grassy area, and half court sports court featuring a basketball hoop.

From the official description:

808 John St, Manhattan Beach, CA"A truly one-of-a-kind property comes along once in a lifetime. Ideally situated on a hilltop in Manhattan Beach and encompassing nearly half an acre, this superior estate caters to the most discerning buyer. Offering five bedrooms and six baths in 6604 square feet on a 20K+ square foot lot, this magnificent home features luxe materials and a myriad of indoor and outdoor spaces for luxurious living and entertaining."

808 John St, Manhattan Beach, CA"Enter through the iron gates and into the dazzling entryway, grounded with inlaid travertine floors and a striking circular staircase; four bedrooms and baths offer serene private living quarters and spacious baths and closets. A family room with onyx fireplace and a large custom bar opening to the courtyard offers impressive entertaining for family and friends alike. The courtyard with a peaceful fountain and fireplace is the perfect spot for gathering or relaxing outside. The breathtaking backyard includes an enormous lawn, regulation lap pool with inlaid fountains and a jacuzzi, a covered poolside terrace, and a full-size sport court, all grandfathered prior to SB 330 – a wondrous feature that cannot be duplicated in new construction. A below-ground, temperature-controlled wine cellar preserves your favorite vintages."

808 John St, Manhattan Beach, CA"Dramatic views of downtown Los Angeles and the Santa Monica Mountains are obtained from several vantage points on the second floor, including a private balcony with outdoor barbecue. The gourmet kitchen includes a huge central island with seating, cooktop, and sink; stainless appliances and dual ovens create a Chef’s atmosphere. A casual dining area is adjacent, as well as a welcoming cozy family room with fireplace. The formal dining room boasts a custom tray ceiling and ocean views and is bathed in natural light. The decadent Primary Suite has sweeping city and mountain vistas, a fireplace, two custom closets with ample built-ins, a separate sitting room/office, and a well-appointed, spa-like bath with dual vanities, a soaking tub, and a fireplace. A detached guest/office suite provides its own entrance and incredible views from the private second-floor balcony. Stunning custom millwork and molding throughout, polished hardwood floors, bespoke cabinetry, a four-car garage, and a host of amenities make this a splendid home for family and friends or hosting lavish parties. Perched on a hilltop in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Manhattan Beach, this property speaks for itself."
