Some Code Broke, But We're Back

Sometimes, things break.

If it's your car, you've got to take it to a mechanic.

If it's your bone, head to the ER.

If it's your website... you need to wait for the right tech specialist.

That's been the boat we were in here at MB Confidential for a couple weeks now, where some "backend" functions of this site broke, and we could not just go in and fix stuff ourselves.

It's been [ [ t h i s   m a n y ] ]  years since we did any programming, so we had to wait in a queue for help.

At last, as of Wednesday, the (mostly hidden) backend functions are repaired.

The main visible casualty of the broken code was our daily Ticker display and feed. That's a popular feature that we 100% custom-built for MB Confidential, and we improved it with this year's major design overhaul. But it broke, and we went 2 weeks without a post or daily newsletter.

Now the Ticker's back, and while there's no way we can make up for all of 2 weeks' worth of news on the comings-and-goings in Manhattan Beach real estate, we'll run a couple days' worth of extended Tickers, so the emails will be just a bit bigger.

Thanks for sticking with us while we went a bit dark on one front. Other "backend" functions were hit, too, but we mostly worked around the other problems. It will all be easier now after the repairs.

And we'll take the time again to thank you for being readers and supporters of MB Confidential. We're proud to have built something special here for the community, even if having a custom product does mean sometimes having problems on the launch pad.

In case you missed it...

201 15th Street, Manhattan Beach, CAIn a mid-Summer post, "See the 3 Longest-Running Listings in MB," we had called attention to the plight of 201 15th (6br/3ba, 2093 sqft.), a spiffy little downtown triplex on a full lot.

It was first listed in April 2020, and currently sports a DOM count of 735 days on market (!). We noted that:

"The same exact listing (# SB20077215) has been paused, withdrawn, reinstated, put on hold again, and so on, continuously over the years. The price has changed 14 times."

All true, but someone pointed out to us – fairly – that many other similar listings simply would have canceled off the MLS and re-booted later with a new MLS number and new DOM clock each time.

Here, they're being transparent. Yes, they've been on market since 2020.

We've added this note to the prior post:

Credit where credit's due: They could have canceled and re-listed this property any number of times over the years.

In fact, it's been "withdrawn" from the MLS a couple of times, and put on "hold" for months at a time, meaning it would have been within the rules to start a new listing. Instead, they revived the prior MLS listing.

201 15th is listed by Kevin Pratt, Strand Hill Properties.
